Intervention Research
Alongside its research and higher education programs, INURED runs Intervention Research projects in the areas covered by the various laboratories. The objective of Intervention Research is to produce applied studies capable of guiding public policies and development initiatives. The effort to understand the specific problems of particular communities and sectors of Haitian society demands a high degree of involvement from the populations concerned. This in mind, the Institute has developed a particular brand of Intervention Research: Participative Research Action and Evaluation. This research methodology includes the training of local groups in methods of investigation.
A concrete example of this approach is the Research and Rapid Assessment Project on the Impacts of International Aid on the Living Conditions of the Inhabitants of Cité Soleil that was implemented between February and June 2008, one of the objectives of which is to assist the local population in identifying and ranking their own development priorities.
Specialized Training
The Institute provides different types of Specialized Training modules for local organizations, community associations, state bodies and citizens. The objective is to boost the qualifications of local agents and institutions intervening in the communities, to train local leaders and to reinforce the structures enabling community participation from civil society (community police, ongoing training for community associations, basic precepts of administration and management, leadership courses, human relations and citizen participation, conflict management, health and risk behavior awareness, environmental management, etc.).
Think Tank
Based on its field of expertise, the Institute provides practical ideas and proposals designed to help local communities, state institutions, and civil society to direct and manage intervention initiatives and public policies. Depending on demand, the Institute may perform a role of facilitating discussion and providing fresh insights on particular problems.
Consultancy
The Institute also provides specific consultancy activities for national and international organizations and State authorities in preparing and assessing intervention or aid projects.
